The Tennis Edit

Welcome to The Tennis Edit! My name is Sarah, and tennis has been a part of my life for almost as long as I can remember. I learned when I was a kid, and spent many summer mornings in Florida hitting against the wall at my local park during my mother’s USTA team tennis practices and matches. After a while, I realized if I wanted to play tennis for my high school team, then I’d better start practicing a little more seriously, and I joined the park’s lesson program. Once the tennis bug bites it doesn’t let go! I started playing junior tournaments and trying to raise my USTA ranking. I made my high school’s tennis team by the barest of margins my freshman year, and by my senior year I was playing first position singles and doubles and serving as team captain. I thought I might try to keep playing in college, but ultimately I decided to take a break from tennis, and that break lasted for a decade or two! Now, as a mom of two kids, I’ve started playing again. And let me tell you, I am playing BADLY. It is so frustrating to go back out on the court and know that my game is just not what I remember or where I want it to be! On top of that, I’m still playing with the racket I used in college. And my tennis clothes and gear is just as much out of date as my A-game. The Tennis Edit is my little project to see if I can get close to my previous competitive level, or at least have more good days than bad on the court. And to find the best equipment, gear, clothes, and training strategies along the way! I’m excited to share what I learn with anyone interested in getting into the game of tennis!

xoxo
